Shop Feature: Jack's Wagging Tail

I love to pamper my pets and one of the many ways that I spoil them is to buy them clothes that are not only fashionable, but also comforting in the part of my pets. Today, I'll be featuring an online shop called Jack's Wagging Tail who sells unique, fashionable, and affordable dog (and cat) vests and harnesses. Meg, the owner, shares wholeheartedly the details and future plans about their products and their shop.

1. Why Jack's Wagging Tail?

~ Because our main inspiration is the wagging tail of our American Cocker Spaniel, Jack Bauer. Aside from the usual cheer that a Cocker spaniel's tail brings, Jack has an inspiring optimism that for us, his wagging tail represents.

2. What made you decide to push through with this kind of business?

~ Me and my boyfriend love to take our dogs with us as much as we can. Amos (German shepherd) and Jack super love car rides and going places. Our business idea came from a couple of dog lovers who started wondering, “Wouldn’t it be nice if we had this and this for our dogs?” Our products right now, as you can see, are not usually found in the market here in the Philippines. So we also wanted to give other dog lovers here in the Philippines an option to have a fun and convenient way to take their dogs with them all the time.

3. What kind of products do you offer to pet owners?

~ JWT’s tagline is “Spend more time with your bestfriend.” Our main goal is to give customers products that would make it more fun and convenient for them to spend time with their best friends. As of now we have the JWT Skins that are designed mainly for really small to medium breeds. The concept of this product is to combine the convenience of a harness and the fun of dressing up dogs. We have various designs right now that range from simple vests to costume-y harnesses. With JWT skins, there’s no need for a collar or a harness on top of your dog’s clothes. They are also so comfortable that dogs hardly notice they’re wearing anything. In fact, whenever Jack sees me holding a JWT Skin, he already comes to me waiting for me to put it on him!

We also have the JWT AMOS K9 (Advanced MOdular System for K9s). It’s designed for medium to really large breeds. Our goal for this product is to make activities with dogs, like walks or hikes, more convenient since this sturdy product is designed in a way that you can attach various containers like a pouch or a water bottle holder on the harness. This way the dog can carry his own stuff, like his water, his bowl, poopy bags, treats, etc. Experts also say that allowing dogs to bear load while walking keeps them from pulling or being distracted. This is because dogs can only focus on one task at a time, so if you give them work, like load bearing, they will focus on this task. So, the AMOS K9 is also a great training device for walking dogs.

4. Do you have plans to put up a physical store in the near future?

~ I don’t know how “near” in the future but yes, eventually. Our first store would probably where we will be putting up our production area, and this is in Marikina since the business is registered there (And yes—our products are tibay Marikina). We still don’t have a clear timeline for this though, so for until we figure things out, we are still doing business online

5. What can we expect from JWT by 2013?

~ For 2013, we have a number of innovative products lined-up! Of course, we would still be focused on our goal to makes walks and trips for dogs more convenient. We’re planning to launch different kinds of harnesses, special leashes, more containers to attach to the AMOS K9 set etc. so, yeah, there’s quite a few things to watch out for next year!

Of course, I did buy a few things from them for my 2 dogs, Odie and Tami. I'll be posting the photos once I get the chance to take a good photo of them.
